“The wind ceased and there was a great calm.”
1/31/26
Jesus was in the boat with the disciples when a violent storm rose up. The boat was filling up with water and Jesus was asleep. The disciples were terrified and woke Him up saying, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” Mark 4:38
Jesus woke up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, "Quiet! Be still!" The wind ceased and there was a great calm. Mark 4:39
Meditate on the words, "The wind ceased and there was a great calm." The disciples were in awe and wondered who Jesus is that even the wind and the sea obey Him.
No matter what happens in your life, remember that Jesus is in your midst. He is calling upon you to trust Him. You can withstand the most frightening storms, trials and anxieties when you are aware of Jesus and His Presence within you.
Out of the depths, I call to You, Lord; Lord, hear my cry! May Your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy! Psalm 130:1-2
When storms arise in your life, reach out to Jesus. He will stretch out His hand and draw you close. Pour out your heart to Him. Give Him your fears and let Him to touch you and heal you. Trust in Jesus. He will bring a great calm upon you.
Jesus is your friend and He will calm you. He wants to know you intimately. Sit in His Presence in Eucharistic adoration or in a Church before the Tabernacle. Every time you have an encounter with Jesus, you are forever changed. He will calm your heart, ease your fears and give you His great gift of peace.
Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10
