Jesus is RISEN! Amen. Alleluia!
4/5/26
The tomb is empty! Jesus has truly risen from the dead. Amen. Alleluia!
This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad.
"On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them, "They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don't know where they put him." So Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb. They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and arrived at the tomb first; he bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in. When Simon Peter arrived after him, he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there, and the cloth that had covered his head, not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place. Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed. For they did not yet understand the scripture that he had to rise from the dead." John 20:1-9
May we celebrate this Easter season with HOPE and JOY knowing that the Lord is with us. On this day of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ who died and rose from the dead for the salvation of the whole world.
St. John Paul II once spoke these words of encouragement: “We do not pretend that life is all beauty. We are aware of darkness and sin, of poverty and pain. But we know Jesus has conquered sin and passed through his own pain to the glory of the Resurrection. And we live in the light of his Paschal Mystery — the mystery of his Death and Resurrection. ‘We are an Easter People and Alleluia is our song!’ We are not looking for a shallow joy but rather a joy that comes from faith, that grows through unselfish love, that respects the ‘fundamental duty of love of neighbor, without which it would be unbecoming to speak of Joy. We realize that joy is demanding; it demands unselfishness; it demands a readiness to say with Mary: “Be it done unto me according to thy word.’”
Let us live the Easter season with his beautiful words: “We are an Easter people and Alleluia is our song.”
The stone was rolled away. Imagine how the disciples must have felt when they arrived at the tomb! They saw and they believed! After all their hopes had been shattered, Jesus rose from the dead! Jesus is the Light who shattered the darkness! He came to make all things new. He broke the bonds of death to make a new creation. Life overcame death. Love never fails! May we live St. John Paul’s words: “We are an Easter people and Alleluia is our song.”
